Introduction
HELLO SLEUTHS! Are you saying "What's a sleuth"? A sleuth is like a detective.
Did you ever wonder what's out there for kids on the Web? Here's your chance to find out! You'll be checking out some great book and reading sites on some super authors. You will pair up as great detective partners working like Nate the Great or Cam Jansen.
The Task
You and your detective partner will:
-
investigate four web sites about great books and authors
-
fill-out a table with information from the sites
-
vote on your favorite of the four sites
-
tally the votes
-
make a bar graph showing the results
Resources
Here are the Web Sites you should visit:
Click on the bus for the Magic School Bus site.
Click on the cat for the Dr.Seuss site.
Click on Arthur for his site.
Click on a dinosaur for author Hans Wilhelm's site.
The Process
These are the steps you should follow:
-
Your teacher will match you with a partner.
-
You will be looking at the sites listed above. You will look to see if these sites have book titles listed, does it tell about the life of the author, if you can write or email the author, and if there are games and activities for kids to do and make.
-
You will fill-out a table with your partner on the things you find on each web site.
-
Get a voting ballot from your teacher. Vote for the site you liked the best and put your ballot in the ballot box.
-
After everyone has voted, your teachers will help you tally the ballots.
-
You will count the tallies and fill-in the bar graph your teacher will give you.
Here is the table you need to fill out. Put an "X" if you find out the site has what you are looking for.
