What is assessed valuation?
Assessed valuation is the term given to the total property wealth of the district. This amount is determined by the value of homes, businesses, farmland and all other real estate in our district boundaries.
The calculation for assessed valuation is based on a formula set by state statute. This formula is applied to the appraised value of the property. The appraised value is the total value of the property as determined by the county appraiser's office.
-
Homes are assessed at 11.5 percent of appraised value
-
Commercial property is assessed at 30 percent of appraised value
-
Agricultural land, valued on the basis of agricultural income or productivity,
is assessed at 30 percent
-
Vacant lots are assessed at 12 percent
