Laurie L Folsom
Hello! I am Laurie L Folsom. I advise the MVTV broadcast at Mill Valley High School and teach Audio/ Video Production Fundamentals (AV Fundamentals) and Video Production (Vid Pro).
I have taught both broadcast and print journalism, along with graphic design and photography. In my 26 years as an educator, I've earned a Master Journalism Educator certificate from the Journalism Educators Association and was awarded KSPA's Ad Astra award in 2015 and the Kansas Collegiate Media Advisers Jackie Engel Award in 2022.
As a teacher, I am fortunate to work with students who want to inform, entertain, and advocate for their peers. Developing young leaders is one aspect of being a media adviser that keeps me coming back year after year. I am proud to advise student-produced productions that give high school students real-world leadership experience.
