What is Debate?

  • Policy Debate is a competitive course in which students compete against other area schools at weekend tournaments.  Students debate on teams of two, and argue both sides of an assigned issue, or resolution.  This is a co-curricular class; students who sign up for the class, are signing up to compete on the team.  During the 2018-2019 season, students will debate the following: Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially reduce its restrictions on legal immigration to the United States.

Kind of. We all debate an assigned topic, but during rounds you construct arguments on your own.
