Web Content Filtering
The school district is committed to internet safety and helping keep students safe while online. In accordance with the federal Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA), USD 232 partnered with industry leader Securly to provide the web filtering for our schools.
Web filtering software helps protect students from accessing inappropriate material while on the school computer network and provides online activity reporting for school administration.
Currently our schools may allow students, under teacher direction, to use personal devices in the classroom. In order to better support the Bring-Your-Own-Device policy, while providing the same level of safety for students on their personal devices, a Securly certificate will need to be installed on personal devices used at school. This is only required if parents want their children to use personal devices in the classroom. The Securly service will only filter web browsing on personal devices while they are on the school network, providing the same level of filtering protection and reporting as for school-owned devices.
