Apple Managed IDs
-
April 28, 2020
We are pleased to share news that our school district managed Apple IDs will soon be available to all secondary students and teachers.
-
Why is this important?
Posted by:We are taking steps to ensure Apple IDs that are used for school district purposes are appropriately managed by the school district. This move will keep personal and educational/professional accounts separate, provide additional security, and provide more iCloud storage for school district purposes.

My current Apple ID ends in @usd232.org. What do I do?
Posted by:If you created a personal Apple ID that ends in @usd232.org, you will receive an email notification from Apple asking you to switch your personal Apple ID to your personal email address. Your school district email address (name@usd232.org) will now be used for the district-managed Apple ID for school purposes. Directions for how to do this will be provided in a follow-up email.
-
My current Apple ID does NOT end in @usd232.org. What do I do?
Posted by:Great. This means your official school email address is not tied to a personal Apple ID. You do not need to do anything.
-
How does this affect me?
Posted by:If you used your district provided email address for a personal Apple ID, you will need to switch your personal ID to a personally owned email account. All purchases, downloads, photos and iMessages associated with your personal/consumer Apple ID will remain.
Important: Apple will not move or delete any personal content to your new district managed Apple ID. The move to a district-managed Apple ID will differentiate personal and educational/professional accounts, provide additional security, and provide more iCloud storage for school district purposes.
-
Do I need to make the change?
Posted by:Only if you have a current personal Apple ID/email ending with @usd232.org.
-
What do I need to do to make the change?
Posted by:You do not need to do anything right now.
Please wait until you receive an email notification directly from Apple and a follow up email from Brandon Riffel, director of technology for the school district. These messages will contain all the information needed to complete the transition, including how to log in and take advantage of the new, district-managed Apple IDs.

What do I do if I need help with the transition?

I didn't receive an email
Posted by:If you do not receive an email directly from Apple about switching your IDs, it means that your school email address is not tied to a current Apple ID. You do not need to anything and you can disregard this message.
