2019-2020 Student Parking
Student Parking 2019-2020
De Soto High School currently has 398 student parking spaces in the area immediately surrounding the school. Thanks to the passing of the recent bond issue, an expansion of that parking lot will take place during the 2020-2021 school year. Until then, the number of parking permits allowing students to park on campus will be limited to the number of student parking spaces and will be distributed on a first come first served basis to senior, junior, and sophomore students meeting eligibility requirements.
What are the parking eligibility requirements for students?
In order to be eligible for a parking permit, students must complete the 2019-20 online vehicle registration form, and present their 2019-2020 student ID and a valid driver’s license.
How will parking permits for Senior, Junior, and Sophomore students be distributed?
Parking permits will be distributed during enrollment until we run out of permits.
- Senior students meeting the eligibility requirements may pick up their parking permits beginning the first day of enrollment, Wednesday 7/31/19. We will start by reserving 200 permits specifically for senior students. These permits will be distributed solely to senior students until Friday 8/16/19, or we run out of the reserved permits. On Monday 8/19/19, any remaining reserved permits will become available for junior or sophomore students.
- Junior and sophomore students meeting the eligibility requirements may pick up their parking permits on Wednesday 7/31/19.
Again, we will distribute parking permits on a first come, first serve basis.
Are freshman students able to get DHS parking permits?
Eligible freshmen students are allowed to drive to school, but will only be eligible for a Stadium Lot parking permits.
Stadium Lot Parking Permits
If we run out of parking permits for the lot surrounding DHS, eligible senior, junior, and sophomore students may request a Stadium Lot parking permit. Freshmen students will only be eligible for a Stadium Lot parking permit. The Stadium Lot parking permit only allows students to park in the Stadium Lot. It does not permit students to park in the lot immediately surrounding DHS during the school day. The Stadium Lot parking permits are also limited and will be distributed on a first come first served basis. This area is located northwest of Lexington Trails Middle School and does not include the parking area immediately south of LTMS.
When will Stadium Lot parking permits become available to freshmen students?
If freshman students meet the eligibility requirements and Stadium Lot parking permits are still available, students may pick up their parking permits from the main office beginning Monday 8/19/19.
Any parking violation may result in an issued fine, school consequence, or suspended parking privileges. Examples of violations include, but are not limited to parking in the wrong lot, parking on grass, parking in staff spots, or parking in yellow or red areas.
What happens if a student loses their DHS Parking Permit?
If a student loses their DHS Parking Permit, they will be issued a new Stadium Lot permit as long as Stadium Lot permits are available.
