Mackenzie Mayfield
This is my 5th year of teaching, but my first year as Riverview’s Reading Specialist. Previously, I taught 1st grade & 3rd grade. I absolutely loved my time in both of those grades because of the huge transitions students made to become independent & accountable learners. I absolutely love watching my students make progress! I know that my new role as Reading Specialist will be full of opportunities to connect with students & guide them as they grow!!!
- I graduated from the University of Kansas in 2019. I graduated with my master’s degree in literacy in 2022.
- I grew up and still live in Western Shawnee. RE definitely feels like home!
- I love to read, watch TV, go out to eat, & travel. I also have a mild obsession with my family’s Golden Retriever, Rigley.

Angela Coleman
Hello there! My name is Angela Coleman. I was born and raised in the mountains of Eastern Kentucky. I attended the University of Kentucky and earned a bachelor’s as well as a master’s degree in secondary education. I taught high school civics, world culture, and United States history for 10 years at Lafayette High School in Lexington, Kentucky (go Cats!).
We moved to Kansas in 2011 and we have loved it here! I have two girls (Sarah 12th) and Leah (8th) who both attended Riverview. I have a deep love of this school and am thankful for the great memories my kids made. My youngest was a part of the Riverview Voyager’s program. Her love of the program inspired me to begin the process of earning a gifted endorsement at Fort Hayes State University so I can begin inspiring the next generation of Riverview Voyagers!
When I’m not in the classroom, you can find me traveling, singing, reading, walking our Corgi Lucy, and attending concerts of all kinds (from choir, symphony, to folk, and even rock!).
