It is the policy of USD 232 not to discriminate on the basis of race, color, age, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, or disability in its programs, activities or employment, and provides equal access to the Boy Scouts and other designated youth groups to its facilities as required by Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, Title VI and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Age Discrimination Act of 1975, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and other relevant state and federal laws.

Interested persons, including those with impaired vision or hearing, can obtain information as to the existence and location of services, activities and facilities that are accessible to and usable by disabled persons by calling the Director of Special Services. Any act of retaliation against any person who has engaged in a protected activity, as that term is defined by law, is prohibited.

The board of education is committed to providing a positive and productive working and learning environment, free from discrimination on the basis of sex, including sexual harassment.  Sexual harassment will not be tolerated in the school district.  Sexual harassment of employees or students of the district by board members, administrators, certificated and support personnel, students, vendors, and any others having business or other contact with the school district is strictly prohibited. 

The district encourages all victims of sexual harassment and persons with knowledge of such harassment to report the harassment immediately. Complaints of sexual harassment will be promptly investigated and resolved. Any person may make a verbal or written report of sex discrimination by any means and at any time.

The district takes all reports of sexual harassment seriously and will respond meaningfully to every report of discrimination based on sex, including sexual harassment, of which the district has actual knowledge. Any student who believes that he or she has been subjected to sexual harassment should report the alleged harassment to the building principal, another administrator, the guidance counselor, the Title IX Coordinator, or another licensed staff member.  All employees receiving reports of sexual harassment from a student shall notify the Title IX Coordinator.

The board encourages all complaints regarding the district to be resolved at the lowest possible administrative level.  Whenever a complaint is made directly to the board as a whole or to a board member as an individual, it will be referred to the administration for study and possible resolution. Discrimination against any individual on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, age, or religion in the admission or access to, or treatment or employment in the district’s programs and activities is prohibited.  Harassment of an individual on any of these grounds is also prohibited.

Here is the part-time enrollment policy per the 2022 amendment to K.S.A.72-3120.

The following is from policy section JBC - Enrollment.

Part-Time Students
The board allows any child to enroll part-time in the school district to allow the student to attend any courses, programs, or services offered by the school district if the child:

• Is also enrolled in a nonaccredited private elementary or secondary school or in any other private, denominational, or parochial school as required by law;
• requests to enroll part-time in the school district; and
• meets the age of eligibility requirements for school attendance.

District administrators shall make a good faith attempt to accommodate scheduling requests of students enrolling in the school district in these situations, but shall not be required to make adjustments to accommodate every such request.

Part-time students, other than those specified previously in this policy, may enroll with the administration’s permission if they complete all paperwork in a timely fashion and are in attendance no later than September 20. Such part-time students may be admitted only to the extent that staff, facilities, equipment, and supplies are available, and the students follow the district’s student conduct policies and rules.

An application for part-time enrollment may be approved only for the current school year or for a lesser period of time as designated by the school principal and Superintendent of Schools in approving the application. An application for part-time enrollment must be submitted at least annually.
