At its final regularly scheduled meeting of the year on Monday, December 1, the Board of Education recognized Board Member Danielle Heikes for 10 years of dedicated service to our school community.
After a decade of advocating for students and staff, Danielle chose not to seek reelection—marking this meeting as her final one on the Board. Her colleagues took time to honor her commitment, leadership, and countless contributions.
During her tenure, Danielle helped guide transformative work across the district, including:
- Implementing one-to-one technology for students
- Approving 40+ new courses for middle and high school students
- Stewarding a successful $85 million bond issue that delivered more projects than originally planned
- Prioritizing financial resources to invest in staff—resulting in a $13,000 increase in starting teacher salary since 2015
- Serving as Board President
School board members serve without compensation, giving their time, expertise, and leadership to expand opportunities for all students. Danielle exemplified that spirit of service.
Thank you, Danielle, for your decade of commitment and for giving so much to our school community. We wish you all the very best!
