Kansans Can Star Recognition

USD 232 honored by State Recognition Program 

The Kansas State Board of Education and Kansas State Department of Education recognized USD 232 (De Soto) for excelling in five educational outcomes established around the vision for education in the 2024 Kansans Can Star Recognition Program.

  • High School Graduation: Gold
  • Postsecondary Effectiveness: Gold
  • Social-Emotional Growth: Silver
  • Individual Plan of Study: Silver
  • Academically Prepared for Postsecondary: Bronze

The Star Recognition Program supports the Kansas Education Systems Accreditation (KESA) process by providing a level of recognition that helps districts identify where they want to focus their improvement efforts. The program recognizes district success in the outcome measures, which serve as a roadmap to help Kansas reach its educational vision. Kansas currently leads the world in the educational success of each student.

Districts can receive gold, silver, bronze or copper stars in the following outcomes.

  • Social-Emotional Growth
  • Kindergarten Readiness
  • Individual Plan of Study
  • Civic Engagement
  • Academically Prepared for Postsecondary
  • High School Graduation
  • Postsecondary Success
