Special Services Advisory Committee
The Special Services Advisory Committee, made up of parents and staff, functions as a forum to collaborate and share information and ideas related to special education services across the school district. Parents make up at least two-thirds of the group and is led by Mrs. Lee Hanson, Director of Special Services.
“I am so pleased with the desire of our parent volunteers on the committee to be engaged with the district as it relates to special education services,” said Hanson. “This level of community engagement will help us fulfill our vision to see every child maximize their potential, no matter their unique learning needs.”
SSAC will help the district promote positive and joint advocacy efforts working with staff to enhance and improve the implementation of educational programs offered throughout the continuum of special education services. One of the goals of the group is to provide resources and supports for parents who have children with identified exceptionalities. It will also work to provide family trainings and workshops related to special education services, 504 plans, individual education plans, and more.
