Principal Named for Mill Creek Middle School
Unified School District No. 232 on Thursday, April 7, 2022, announced Mr. Andrew Legler as the next principal of Mill Creek Middle School, effective with the 2022-23 school year. Legler’s appointment is pending formal approval by the Board of Education.
Legler is currently the principal at Cure’ of Ars Catholic School in Leawood, KS – a position he has held since 2017 at the largest K-8 Catholic school in the Kansas City Archdiocese. He will succeed Mr. Josh Kindler at Mill Creek who recently announced his resignation to pursue another opportunity.
The appointment of Legler follows an extensive search process conducted by the school district, which included multiple applicants. The process also involved finalist interviews with staff, parents, and students.
“We are pleased to have Andrew accept the leadership position at Mill Creek,” said Dr. Frank Harwood, Superintendent of Schools. “His educational experience at the elementary and middle levels, as well as his commitment to build on the strengths of MCMS, will have a positive impact on our students, teachers, and parents. His enthusiasm will help us achieve the district’s vision to maximize each student’s potential.”
In addition to his administrative experience, Legler spent eight years as an elementary teacher with the Blue Valley School District. His background also includes additional years as a 6th grade teacher with the Seaman School District and teaching positions in Auburn-Washburn and Kansas City, KS. The variety of school settings over the last 20 years provides Legler with a unique perspective on helping students and staff achieve their very best.
“I could not be more excited about joining USD 232. I am eager to connect with the students, staff, and families of the Mill Creek Mustang community,” Legler said. He will contact the community in the coming weeks to welcome families, students, and staff to the 2022-23 school year.
Lelger earned his bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education through Kansas State University, his master’s degree in Educational Administration through the University of Kansas, and School Leadership through Creighton University. Andrew and his wife Lynn have two daughters, Liliana (10) and Gabriela (8).
USD 232 welcomes more than 7,400 students each day at 13 campuses, with seven elementary schools, three middle schools, two high schools, and Cedar Trails Exploration Center. The school district encompasses an area of nearly 100 square miles in northwest Johnson County and draws from the communities of De Soto, Shawnee, Lenexa, a portion of Olathe, and unincorporated areas of the county.
