Congratulations to Jenny Barnhart, a physical education teacher at Mill Creek Middle School, for being the USD 232 Making a Difference Award winner for the month of March!
Jenny joined the staff at Mill Creek Middle School as a Communication Arts teacher in August of 2007 and then transferred to her current position as a PE teacher in 2010. In addition to her teaching role, Jenny has been a volleyball, track, and summer weights coach. Prior to her joining USD 232, she held teaching positions in Shawnee Mission and Plano, TX. Jenny earned her teaching degree from Wichita State University and her Master of Education from the University of North Texas.
Here is an excerpt from her student nomination:
Mrs. Barnhart is just an amazing teacher. She is always so encouraging and kind. She makes you feel so strong, and I love talking to her! She is so understanding and she is always in a good mood and ready to have fun! I love having her as a teacher and wish I had more classes with her. She makes working out fun and I actually really love P.E. now!
The school district and the USD 232 Education Foundation present the Making a Difference Award cooperatively each month with the program sponsored by Great American Bank in De Soto. The USD 232 Making a Difference award celebrates the exceptional teachers and staff in our district who are truly “making a difference in the lives of young people.”
Nominations for the month of April are currently being accepted for the Making a Difference Award and are due April 30, 2022. Monthly entries are encouraged as new nominations are reviewed monthly.
