The 6th grade science classes at Mill Creek Middle School, taught by Laurie Heisel and Katie Taylor, created a Gingerbread Kansas City as part of the Global Gingerbread STEM project. STEM represents science, technology, engineering and math. Students designed and constructed notable buildings, attractions and businesses in the KC Area as a part of this engineering challenge.
This idea for this project originated six years ago by a few teachers in Andover, Kansas, and it has spread globally. This is the first year Mill Creek has joined this project, and with great success.
Gingerbread Kansas City, consisting of over 65 buildings, was displayed in the 6th Grade activity area at MCMS for all to enjoy the final week of the Fall semester.
