USD 232 celebrates school board members in January

January is School Board Recognition Month

Posted January 11, 2023
The month of January in Kansas and across the country is known as School Board Recognition Month. As the State of Kansas observes this recognition, USD 232 joins in the celebration.

Our Board of Education is comprised of seven elected individuals who are committed to providing an excellent education for every child in our community. They do this on a volunteer basis and receive no compensation.

School board members are responsible for establishing the vision for our local education program and partner with staff and other members of the community to provide the facilities, infrastructure, programs and resources to achieve that vision.

The district is grateful to have this opportunity to formally say ‘thank you’ to each school board member.

The individuals serving on the Board of Education are:

  • Ashley Spaulding, president of the board, position #2 – Member since 2020
  • Rick Amos, vice president, at-large position #7 – Member since 2020
  • Bill Fletcher, position #1 – Member since 2007
  • Stephanie Makalous, position #3 – Member since 2020
  • Danielle Heikes, position #4 – Member since 2015
  • Calley Malloy, position #5 – Member since 2022
  • Brandi Jonasson, position #6 – Member since 2022

The school district encourages the entire community to thank a school board member, not only this month but throughout the entire year.
