Unified School District No. 232, along with the Eudora school district, will host its third annual Career and Job Fair for secondary students on December 6, 2019 at De Soto High School.
Partnering with approximately 65 local, regional and national companies and businesses, the school districts will expose students to dozens of jobs and career fields within the Kansas City metropolitan area. The early connections made by students for potential internships and/or future jobs is another way to expand students’ knowledge and understanding of what is possible for their future.
USD 232 believes all students should possess the skills necessary to succeed in postsecondary education, in the attainment of an industry recognized certification, or in the workforce. Kansans are demanding higher standards in academic skills, as well as employability and citizenship skills, and the need to move away from a “one-size-fits-all” system that relies exclusively on state assessments.
The Career and Job Fair helps support the vision for education in Kansas that calls for a more student-focused system that provides support and resources for individual success and will require everyone to work together to make it a reality.
