DHS and MVHS Seniors named National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists
The National Merit Scholarship Corporation named Corinne Daise, senior at De Soto High School, and Eva Burke, senior at Mill Valley High School, as Semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program. This distinction places both students in the top one percent of all high school seniors in the country.
Daise and Burke will learn if they advance to the Finalist level in February 2020. With the National Merit Scholarship being a competition, the Semifinalist will provide information about their academic record, participation in school and community activities, demonstrated leadership abilities, and honors and awards received as well as two sets of SAT test scores, a recommendation from a high school official and a personal essay.
All National Merit Scholarship winners will be selected from this group of Finalists with the winners being announced the beginning of April 2020 and concluding in July 2020. Merit Scholar designees are selected based on their skills, accomplishments and potential success. These scholarship recipients will join some 345,000 other distinguished young people who have earned the Merit Scholar title.
