FOX4’s Band of Angels surprises LTMS student with new instrument
Band of Angels visited Lexington Trails Middle School on Monday, May 9, to present a drum and xylophone set to new 6th grade student, Rinat Ialovets.
Rinat attended music school for five-years in Ukraine and is extremely talented on both the piano and the drums. He and his family fled Ukraine when Russia declared war and invaded the country. They arrived in Kansas City in April and are staying with a host family, while the future for them remains uncertain. Rinat enrolled in Lexington Trails where his love for music was quickly evident.
Meyer Music and the Band of Angels program, with the help of Fox 4 Kansas City, also gave Rinat a full tuition scholarship to attend the University of Kansas Summer Band Camp.
About Band of Angels
FOX4 has partnered with Meyer Music for over 12 years to provide more than 2,500 donated instruments to band students around the Kansas City area. The Band of Angels refurbish instruments that have been donated to Meyer Music and put them into the hands of band students who will breathe new life into the old instruments.
