A Veteran of Our Schools and Our Hearts: Farewell to ‘Officer Mo’

Officer Mo LoridonMill Valley High School is bidding a warm farewell to School Resource Officer "Officer Mo" as he embarks on a well-deserved retirement after a distinguished career spanning 29 years with the Shawnee Police Department, eleven of which were spent serving the Mill Valley High School community.

Officer Mo, whose real name is Maurice Loridon, has been an integral part of the Mill Valley High School family since 2012, ensuring the safety and security of students and staff as School Resource Officer on assignment through the Shawnee Police Department. His warm demeanor and unwavering commitment to his community earned him the respect and admiration of students and staff alike.

During his time at Mill Valley, Officer Mo went beyond the call of duty to foster positive relationships with students and staff, offering guidance, and often through a clever sense of humor. He was not just a symbol of security but a trusted confidant for many students, aiming to provide a relatable and comforting presence.

Officer Mo also played a crucial safety role within all of USD 232. From his time spent training staff and students on ALICE protocol, to providing guidance on school safety procedures, his dedication to our schools and unwavering commitment to public safety made him a valuable resource to the district. As Officer Mo bids farewell to his badge, he leaves behind a legacy of service and dedication that will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of working alongside him. The impact of his service during his time in USD 232 is immeasurable.
