The Dictionary Project from the De Soto Rotary

February 12, 2024

Third grade students at Mize and Starside Elementary received a personal dictionary, compliments of the De Soto Rotary Club.

The donation was made as part of The Dictionary Project, a non-profit organization with the goal of assisting students to become good writers, active readers, creative thinkers, and resourceful learners. The dictionaries are a gift for each student to use at school and at home for years to come.

The Dictionary Project has been around for several years across the country, and is active in more than half of all public elementary schools in Johnson County, Kansas. Since its implementation in 1995, over 31 million students have received dictionaries nationwide to help inspire a continued love of words and learning.

The De Soto Rotary hopes to continue with the donation of dictionaries to third grade students with plans to expand to more elementary schools in the future.
